So far today

P1030810

Even if I did not have a stitchery on this week’s to do list, I needed one!
This little Christmas design I got as a gift from May Britt, and I am looking forward to decorate in my house with it when the time comes :-)

P1030808

I have had this care quilt top done for a while and today it was time to machine quilt it.

P1030806

13 more 9-patch blocks. The beige blocks looks quite bland, but mixed in with the others I am sure they will sparkle too.

P1030807

52 9-patches down, 47 to go :-)

Monday - this week’s to do list

P1030794P1030796

I have so many dreams about what to do (and what not to do) in the sewing corner, so I found it is best to breathe life into my to do list again :-)

1. Spring table runner - started yesterday

P1030795

2. I want work on this top (see the post below) so I can start hand quilting it soon. I aim at finishing all the 9 patches this week.

3. 1 care quilt - I have not decided which one yet :-)

Do you have a to do list and goals for this week?

It is not easy :-)

P1030779It is not easy to open a beautiful kit, is it ?

P1030780After having had this kit from Lolly’s for a year, I finally opened it.
It brings back happy memories from Shipshewana :-)

P1030791Here are the first 20 9-patches - 79 to go :-)
No speed cutting, no strip piecing, since there are so many different fabrics going into this quilt.P1030786DH is putting new flooring in the master bedroom and Rusket is watching Dad’s stuff when it is out of there..
It is not easy to place her big self on a bag on a chair - watch the hind legs :-)

P1030789

Now it is time to move on the the next project - I have a deadline to meet, but could not help playing with the lovely kit :-)
I am aiming at doing the 9-patches over several days.

Friday Finish

P1030774

Nothing very exciting, but another Christmas drawstring pouch :-)
I had drawn the stitchery design and put it in a zip lock bag with the embroidery floss, before New Year.
Now it is done, it will be put in the gift box for Christmas 2011.

Shopping from Japan

P1030768

I like Japanese books very much and even if I do not read Japanese, I do read Quilt :-)
The diagrams in the Japanese books are very good!

I have shopped from Megumi Okubo – Megs Favorites - since 2006, and I am a very happy customer.

We all know that Japan is going through an extremely tough time, and we know we all can help a little, by donating to Medecins sans Frontieres, Red Cross or other organisations.

We can also help by shopping, to keep economy going, therefore I do recommend Megumi if you are on the lookout for Japanese quilt books

This is what Megumi wrote to me this week:

Hello, we sent your package to your following address today.
In this difficult time, thank you very much for your kind email from bottom
of my heart.
It is great help of Japan that you purchase from Japan now, thank you!
We support out of our sales from you for revival.

TGIF–Thank God it is Friday :-)

Where did the days go since returning from Tromsø ?

P1030754I am winding myself up for a sewing weekend at home :-)
Earlier in the week I made these 3 blocks for my Civil War Love Letter goes to Japan quilt,

P1030762I have a also finished these 2 stitcheries, which were both started in 2010. I had made the drawings and picked the thread, and that was it.

I think I have to go back to making priority lists – right now :-)

Here are some impressions from the judged competition.
We had 2 size choices – 150 cm x 220 cm, or 30 cm x 220 cm.
The theme was – Soup on a nail.

The lighting was terrible, the place was to cramped to get good photos (I could not get all of the 220 cm showing) and most of the quilts were terrible wrinkled from having beeing packed to tight before being hung on the walls, but Norway sure has a lot of skilled quilters, that is for sure :-)
You can see the winning quilts better here.
