Welcome 2011

friends

Welcome new days, new possibilities, new fun, old friends.

Carpe diem - use the days to the best. Set your goals so you can reach them, yet do not forget to reach for the stars!

heart

The low winter sun is shining today, and it is a lovely quiet day here in the quilt corner.

I have picked 5 focus projects for the first week of the new year.

P1070316

  • The Christmas table cloth
  • A lady bug pin cushion with companion pouch.
  • A scissors keeper
  • A tape measure cover
  • A pile of kaleidoscope blocks

I am not aiming for a whole lot of finishes just like that, but here are some machine work and some hand work, so I can see where the urges takes me.

And as my morning stitchery I will have the lovely Life is Beautiful blocks.

I had a quick glance at my Work In Slow Progress box(es) just now. By a brief count I have about 20 projects going all in all, and that is about the same number as a year ago.
I am happy about that. In 2010 I finished a lot of big quilts so most of my WISPs now are smaller projects.
I am not really a WISP counter, but I love to count my finishes, which is much  more fun :-)

By the way - I forgot to show you this finish from last year:

P1070237I gave this mug rug away for Christmas and it was so much fun to make.

hoop1I wish for you that 2011 will be a good year, and I am looking forward to spend it with you!

  6. An Australian welcome to the Year of our Lord 2011. Somehow that old saying, once used a lot, not so much now, appeals to me this year.

I love looking at your beautiful stitchery patterns in that pile. They inspire me to organize mine and have some hand sewing ready. I love your Mug mat. I spent the month of Dec doing lots of white stitchery on red towels on the embroidery machine, or embroidery section of my machine.

here is a little link to the one for my bathroom and one of the red ones I shall keep for myself. Two more to do, when I get more towels.

I bought some pens to trace the stitchery patterns with before Christmas and had lost them. I just happened to find them last night, so the light box will have to come out on a day that is not too hot and I have a set of Lynette Anderson's BOM to trace and sew.

    Happy sewing for 2011.

  9. You do get a lot done. The mouse is so cute on your little mug rug. The mug rugs seem to be very popular right now. Room for a cup or glass and a cookie!
