Happy moments!

It has again been a busy week, preparing for a double 50 year celebration (DH and myself) + our silver wedding anniversary :-)

P1060782

May Britt came to celebrate with us, and she gave me a hand with the last preparations, like making the name cards for the dinner table.

P1060802
Even if the cards turned out very cute, we can not see a scrapping future for any of us - even my DH noticed that we would have been a 100 times more happy cutting fabrics instead of paper ;-)

We had the most gorgeous gourmet meal, prepared by a professional chef in my own kitchen, serving 15 guests.

Seafood for starters, breast of duck for main dish and sorbet with fresh fruit and berries for dessert, accompanied by the very best vines.
Sorry - I totally forgot to take photos, but the meal was the very best, and it was very beautifully served. You just have to take my word for it :-)

Today both May Britt and I realized that we did not have any finishes for OPAM (One Project a Month)  for October.
That can't be heard of - having had finishes every month through the year, so we made a joined effort and made some pin cushions.

Correction: I had forgot about the 2 gift quilts I made earlier this month.

After May Britt returned home this afternoon I found that I could finish this drawstring bag too.

Here is the outside, the lining and the stitchery  finished.

And here is the finished product Smilefjes Design Leanne Beasley.

From zero to 2 finishes in hours - feels good!

It has been a great weekend with favourite friends!

Friday again :-)

The days are flying so fast, with good things happening :-)

DD2 was home from school on autumn break last week, and the house is empty without her.
She and the furball have a close relation - I think the cat miss her too!
Talking about the strange cat - here DD2 is feeding her cucumber.
She eats cucumber, water melon and strawberries, as in chewing and licking the juice off and spitting out the rest.

P1060726

Today I found her in the hall, having tilted my bag over and tried it on for size :-)

P1060749On Tuesday I could do a happy dance - the Seamen BOM quilt top is done and is now in the able hands of Merete, who will be quilting mine the same way she did her own.

P1060734
On Tuesday evening DH and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with going out for dinner.

P1060736P1060743

He bought me these beautiful roses, 25 of the kind, and I had bought him these cool cuff links.
In Norwegian Ekte Mann means Real Man and Ektemann (in one word) means Husband. DH loves word play, so these are perfect for him.
The cuff links are from Snella & Petronella, where they also make gorgeous buttons.
Now we have started the next 25 years, aiming for a gold anniversary :-)

P1060745 Brrrrrrr - it has been cold!
This was yesterday, and even the cat refuses to go out much.
She has not been on my table much since last winter.

P1060747 She does not appreciate the white stuff on the ground much either…… neither do I……..

P1060751Today I have finally finished the centre stitchery for Alle Fugler BOM.
I must admit I do not enjoy using Aurifil 12 WT with the muslin that came with the kit (as did the thread). Lesson learned!
The stitchery is 18" by 12" - a lot of stitches.
The fabric has a to high thread count to go well with that particular thread, just in case you wondered.

Weekend again :-)

It has been a lovely week, and on Tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting Barri Sue Gaudet, the creator of Bareroots patterns and books.

Unfortunately I had no memory card in my camera, but the internal camera memory holds a couple of photos, so here goes:

P1060721

Kathrine's Quiltestue had invited Barri to give a show and tell in Oslo, and we had the pleasure of seeing and touching and shopping.

Here Barri is signing a book. She signed one of my books too :-)
Did I mention I have a lot of Barri's patterns, collected over years,  and I think I have all her books now too - I LOVE her stitcheries and her style :-)

P1060714
Kathrine had set up the shop, filled to the brim with Vitamin Q and temptations. Kathrine is very well stocked on Bareroots goodies.

P1060715
A lot of eye candy :-)

P1060716

My DD2 has been home on an autumn leave from school, and yesterday we went yarn shopping for her - she is the one who knitted the ever so cute baby socks - and we had a lovely lunch at our favourite lunch place, Jordbærpikene ( Strawberry girls )

P1060722

DD2 will be going back to school on Sunday afternoon, to the northern part of Norway, where she is studying Fashion & Design.

Days are still flying - Monday again

I wish I could call myself Speedy Gonzales, but no……… no such luck ;-)

P1060705P1060703I did finish the 2 gift quilts in time - both  made with the same blocks, for my sister in law and her best friend, who celebrated their 50th birthday together on Saturday.

The quilts  both looks a bit wrinkly on these photos. Luckily they did not look wrinkly in real life.

Both the quilts came with a Use & Wash instruction:

You have now received a true Use & Wash quilt.
Can be used both outdoors and indoors!
Can be washed in the washing machine on 40 degrees C,
can be tumble dried and can be ironed with steam.
Likes chocolate hands and cat paws, happy moments outside the cabin with a glass of red vine.
Likes a picnic on the grass or a trip to the beach.
One can build a children's hiding with it, sleep under it or on it,
likes a car trip.
Warms you on a cold evening when you enjoy a cup of hot beverage.
In short - an utility quilts which wants to be used and worn in happy company with YOU ♥

******

Quilts should always be given with a happy use instruction, don't you think? :-)

DD2 is home on her autumn break from school.
She is a new knitter and she has knitted these cute baby socks for a friend who is expecting.

Isn't she clever and aren't the socks very cute - says her proud mum, with a smile :-)

P1060707The furball is doing her usual beautiful tricks, making us all wish for being a cat in a cat loving household :-)
P1060709Life is good for others too - enjoying coffee and hand piecing

Days are flying

P1060666I have picked my lavender and hung it to dry - it is smelling nice in my sewing room.

P1060697P1060700

On Thursday I had the pleasure of shopping from Siw, as she was visiting Bente's guild with her shop Quiltegården- you can see I got some lovely goodies :-)

P1060685

Bente, May Britt and I had a very nice weekend together, and these angels is the result of the challenge May Britt gave us this summer.
We also had the pleasure of celebrating May Britt's birthday :-)

P1060698I did not get that much sewing done, but I am moving this project in the right direction.

P1060693

This beauty moved in to my sewing corner today ! :-)
The Janome is moving out, to a new owner. May it bring her many happy sewing hours!

P1060694I have been testing the seams and functions in bright colours on a dull autumn day.
I have had Pfaff for nearly 25 years before buying the Janome - I guess it is kind of a habit, and I love my new Pfaff.
