More about fluttering and other things.

P1060241
I am stitching away, and this is the last unit in block # 7 done.
It is my 4th finished block.

P1060239
I am jumping around among the blocks, so they are not finished from 1 to 9, like others might do ;-)

P1060242
When I saw one of my outdoor flower beds I know why I like the colours of Butterfly Garden :-)

P1060246

P1060248

Someone is taking R&R very serious around here :-)
We have had some very wet and windy days.
It is still to windy to sit outdoors on my veranda.

P1060251

Remember the piles of blocks I have shown you recently ?
The top is done, pieced and stitched, and it is now at my machine quilter Merete's :-)

P1060255
Tuesday I attended Kaffelappen quilt café at Lappemakeriet - a wonderful place to get a well needed refill of Vitamin Q.
Sigrun brought her wonderful scrappy Dresden Plate quilt to show.

 P1060259
In deep concentration !

P1060262
More show & tell.

P1060273

P1060268
Another finished unit, and block #4 nearly done.

P1060274

P1060271

Another unit ,and block # 6 nearly done

 P1060265

P1060266

If you are doing this quilt, and you are not yet done with block # 5, you can see that unit # 6 is turned the wrong way.

I have paid so close attention to the right direction of the units through the quilt, but the pattern has some glitches, and I forgot to check this one before stitching away, just following the pattern with closed eyes.
It is as it is - and I will live to tell the tale  ;-)
Redoing it is NO option!

P1060272
The last 2 blocks, not yet prepped.
I think I am ready for some appliqué very soon!

Saturday update

P1060232

My favourite pastime - stitchery :-)
When life is busy I find even more joy in doing stitchery, especially in the early morning hours, so these are units #3, #4 and # 5 this week.
Morning tea, audio books and stitchery - what is not to like?

P1060233
My "secret" project is closing in on a finished top too!

P1060237
The next Butterfly Garden unit in the making :-)
I have invited DH out for dinner tonight.
I will prep another unit for stitchery as the oldies of the household  (DH and myself) have to spend the rest of the evening downstairs in the basement, as the main floor is occupied by DD2 and friends.

Monday report

P1060224
I know, I know - I had other things on my to do list today, but I felt rebellious ;-)
This week's blocks is done then, but I can not help it - I am hooked!
It is fun that others also have dug out their Butterfly Garden blocks and are working along with May Britt and myself!
P1060225
Like one thing often leads to another, one block some days leads to another too!
P1060226
And sometimes - 3 is the number……..
This unit is quite stitch intensive though, so it will be spread over several days.
P1060223
It's here - EQ7!
I have installed the upgrade, but not yet have the time to look closer at what is changed and upgraded.
I have had this software since December 1999, from EQ4, and it is a well used tool here. I use my EQ all the time :-)

This week's Butterfly Garden unit

P1060215

1 unit a week does not feel like much, but it is, in the long run -
another small step towards a finished quilt.

P1060218
In an inspired moment I started another unit. Like a head start on next week's finish I guess :-)

Early Bird Christmas Crafting

P1060213

I have not forgot, even if it might look like I have :-)

I joined the Early Bird Christmas Crafting Challenge and this is my first Christmas gift done :-)

Stitchery is as you know perfect for the sunny outdoors, and I can promise I will make more of these stars - it was fun to do!

The pattern is from The Birdhouse.

Lost in action 2

P1060207
The weather in this part of the world changes fast, and it has been frequent rain shower since Wednesday - even the queen of the household are taking her naps indoors, waiting for better weather.

P1060208
Dark sky, thunder storms and frequent rain showers are perfect weather for indoor sewing machine activity:

P1060210
The focus project of the week is closer to finished now :-)
I will give it a few more day though - some stitchery and some machine piecing are due before I can join all the units into a top.

Catching up - Lost in action

P1060198

Lovely weather, a lot of water, simple meals and outdoor stitching was the focus in the beginning of the week.

Tuesday I visited Bente, and we spent the day outdoors.

P1060201
My Seaman Dresden Plate blocks have really been on the back burner, like the seamen had committed mutiny :-)

P1060212
I think I have to do a weekly block of these beauties too, just for fun :-)
I find that I have missed hand piecing since I finished my star quilt.

P1060200
Bente is very close to finishing her hexagon quilt # 2 - it is absolutely gorgeous!

P1060203
When I came home from Bente's, my DH had picked these wild strawberries to me - the ultimate taste of Norwegian summer!

P1060205
These lovely flowers from Bente's garden has brightened my living room all week :-)

One more week of focusing

A new week, a new focus project :-)

P1060197
Many pieced blocks, some stitchery blocks - my own design.

This is a little sneak peak on the first stitchery block that I finished yesterday.

By next Sunday the stitchery blocks should be done, as well as the best part of all the pieced blocks!

Wishing myself good speed - I can do it!

More fluttering

P1060183
Friday was a gorgeous day to spend outdoors, and since those days can be few in this part of the world, I took advantage, bringing my coffee, my audio book and my stitchery out in the  sun.

P1060189

The Friday unit is done :-)

P1060191
I now only remember to well why this block (and some other blocks)  came to a halt - I am lacking fabrics for the appliqué for unit 1 and unit 7!
I  am getting over it NOW, and will find fabrics in my own collection.
I see I am lacking appliqué fabrics in more blocks than this one too.
Incomplete kits are no fun!

P1060193
Saturday unit done :-)

If you think I am going overboard with my 1 unit a week turning into 1 unit a day, you are only partly right :-)

In the beginning of the week I gave myself a little secret challenge - to see if I could finish 1 unit a day for a week, and as May Britt and I started last weekend, I thought Saturday was a good day to end the challenge.
From now on it is 1 unit a week, for a while :-)

P1060187
I can resist anything but temptations, as you know :-)
Another BOM ??  Yes!
From Quiltegården, designed by Lynette Anderson.
The full kit - fabrics, embroidery floss, buttons and patterns.
I do not know what the quilt will look like yet - a little excitement in everyday life :-)

Small victories :-)

P1060182

Another one, just for fun :-)

More OPAMs for June

P1060153
I forgot to blog these in June.
A new makeup purse for myself and a tote for a gift.
P1060151
A while ago I gave my friends May Britt and Bente a challenge.
We all got a zipper, a piece of fabric and some silk ribbons.
I have used the fabric close to the zipper.
The silk ribbons was a little bright to go with the checked fabric, so I gave it a coffee bath :-)

P1060148

This tote is a gift for a friend. I hope it will make her happy  :-)
