Still relatively sane :-)

Can you believe it - the Nearly Insane top is DONE !!

After wrestling the zig zag border blocks to the point of nearly insanity, through yesterday and in to the small hours, I decided to leave them out, and I was again a happy camper. Nothing like some early morning light on decisions. I just could not stand the process and did not care to much for the look either.
I have a zip lock bag full of both zig-s and zag-s now, but who counts and cares ? :-)

Since the photo is taken in poor indoor late evening light you are not getting the right look, the porcelain appearance, but I will make that up to you when the quilt is done.

I am sending this quilt to a friend of my friend Val in Canada tomorrow morning, to be machine quilted, and if the postal system is able and willing, it will get there in time for the machine quilter to get it done before I go to Shipshewana in a month.
If so, I will bring the quilt home with me myself, in the end of April. If not, it will be sent here when it is done.
Cathy is very very skilled and I trust her doing a good job on my quilt.

It is scary to send my "baby" out, across the big pond, and I am suffering some kind of post quiltum blues now I guess - my desk far to tidy and all ;-)

My back is hurting from all the quilt top wrestling in the sewing machine. Those on point strips are very long.

Tomorrow I will enjoy some stitchery I guess - small arm movements sounds lovely right now.

If you wonder, I have celebrated the finished quilt top with a glass of good red wine. I am proud and a bit tired.

I can hear both Civil War Diary blocks and Dear Jane blocks calling my name as we speak - I love blocks, many blocks, often, daily.
Maybe I should add a simple block of some kind to my want-to-do list tomorrow too ?

Once a quilter, always a quilter - once a block lover, always a block lover :-) Nothing is like sampler blocks and stitchery.

Life is Good :-)

What an amazing quilt. WOW! When you mention that you are going to Shipshawana, I assume you are talking about in Indiana? I live near there, but don't go as often as I would like... probably just as well, I always spend WAY too much money every time I go. Is there something special there that you went there for?

Glad I found your blog... I will be back!
