Sunshine thoughts

Pull up a chair if you like - I have tea or coffee to share. Come enjoy some spring sunshine with me :-)
Sitting in the sunshine, with a mug of tea and some hand quilting the thoughts wanders easily.
These days are rare in spring, with the weather we have here in the northern hemisphere one never know how long it will last, and make the most of it when one can.

I am beginning to be bored with hand quilting the Watermelon quilt.
I am very slow with my hand quilting, and some days I feel like a sparrow in a herons dance as we say here.
Well - I have a goal, and only time (and effort) can tell if I make it or not.
I want to finish the Watermelon quilt in May!

I did not meet my goals for April - 15 NI blocks and 8 applique blocks.
I got "sidetracked" by the care quilts, which was absolutely good with me :-)
I was able to enjoy a lot of things outside my house, which is a giant good step in the right direction.

So - only one goal for May: Finishing the Watermelon quilt!

Tomorrow I will teach a friend how to make heartstring blocks. I am sure we will have a great time :-)

Lovely photo ! You know that I love your watermelon quilt.... but how did you know that pansies are my favourite flowers ? (so humble, delicate, and yet so resistant !)... Yes, being a handquilter myself, >i understand what yu mean with the "slow process" that can become "boring", somehow. But isn't it worth the patience ? (nothing like hand quilting !) I bet you'll reach your May goal, anyway !....
Coffee for me, please, thanks Hanne.

    Hugs & smiles !

  2. Thank you for the sunshine thoughts! They are lovely, as is your quilt! I did have to run downstairs for a mug of tea, though, the moment you mentioned it. It was so nice to sit and watch you sew for a bit. If I were hand sewing too, instead of just watching you, I would definitely be 'a sparrow in a heron's dance!' That is just a great saying!!!

  4. I'm so glad you have some lovely sunshiny days to enjoy! It's been so cloudy, hot and humid here, I don't want to take my stitching outside. Pretty soon, however, I will be stitching in the truck again, as we travel. It's air conditioned, though! =)

Even though you didn't meet the April goals, you met other goals. Sometimes things get postponed.

How are you feeling now? Back to normal yet?

  5. I grew tired of my Grandmother's Aprons....maybe I will join you and set a goal of getting the handquilting done on that in May. I will give this some serious thought.

  7. Hi, Hanne! Thank you for this sweet post! Best of luck on finishing your beautiful watermelon quilt! It deserves to be finished and used this summer!

The weather is great in Oslo today, as well! Hopefully I can take some work (and perhaps some Tumbling blocks) outside today to enjoy the sunshine :o)

  11. When I do hand quilting, I just concentrate on whatever is in my hoop and ignore the other part that is not quilted, otherwise I will be overwhelmed with all that has to be done. It helps and before you know it, the whole top will be quilted. I've been waiting for some time now to see it all completed ... I can wait a while longer.

  13. Yes - enjoy the sun whilst it lasts. Here in the UK it has been lovely the last few week, but rain is threatened from Sunday. Little and often will see your Watermelon quilt finished :)

  14. That's the best a woman can have: Sunshine, a cup of coffee and a hand quilting to be made. I love the photo of your quilt basted on the hoop.
