One happy confirmand and her family in their best clothes :-)
Sunday 14. May 2006
The confirmand got her bunad in pieces, from her grandparents on DH's side,
to be put together for her 18th birthday in 3 years.
I have embroidered mine myself and DMIL and DFIL have embroidered DD1's bunad.
DMIL has embroidered the bunad and
DFIL has embroidered the skirt in the smallest possible cross stitches.

  3. Very nice family photo. Does your family origin from Telemark? I just wonder since I guess that your DD1's bunad is from East-Telemark. My husband is also a Telemarking, and I'm allowed to use that bunad also.

  4. Lovely family, Hanne. The bunads are so beautiful. The men do not wear the native dress or your husband chose not to??

  10. HI! I think I have contacted you before when I became aware of these Norwegian blogs. They are my favorite. I got a felted purse from my husband for Valentine's day. IT has a crewel design on the front of it. I would like to make more for my nieces instead of paying $90.00 US dollars for each one and make a design from the Telemark area where we descend from. I see that you embroidered on the bunad's that you made. Is there a book that I can get that has a lot of these designs in it that I can use for my project? I don't know where to buy it, I had a website sent to me, but they do not respond back. I would love to put some of these designs on a few pillows also. I have a blogsite,it is new and a work in progress. LOL LOL It is www.theicelanderoforigin.blogspot.com. If you could help me I would appreciate it, anything you need please let me know and I would be happy to help you too. Thanks again. Barbara G.

  11. It is me again! I saw a book called Handcoverings for National and Folk Costumes on a website. It is $90.00 plus shipping here to the US. That is one possible alternative for me, I would like something less expensive and recommended by you. I don't know much about the rules and regulations of using the bunad designs either. After reading a bit, I am wondering if this is ok for me to do this.

I am Icelandic, and went there a few years ago to see relatives, it was a wonderful time. Thank you again. Barbara G.
